Rather than throwing away reusable goods, consider donating them to LCM.
When you dontate items to us, you help people and the planet, by providing affordable goods to others, supporting our local green economy, and keeping usable resources out of the landfill.
Donations of reusable goods are welcome and customers will now be able to donate in a tax-deductible status.
Donations are accepted from 9:00 - 3:30, in the designated drop off area just past the store entrance.
For your convenience, that anything turned away can be recycled for free or disposed of for a fee at ReGen Monterey.

DETAILS FOR DONATIONS
- No Large Appliances – smaller items such as microwaves or minifridges are OK
- Auto Parts – must new in package, including auto seats
- Bedding – blankets, pillows, duvets, throws, sheets must be in excellent condition
- No rusty or incomplete Bikes
- No Blinds & Ceiling Fans
- Unsellable Books - Encyclopedias, outdated travel books, damaged textbooks
- No Damaged Clothing - stained or ripped. No undergarments or socks
- No Damaged Construction Material - items must be safe and usable for our customers
- No Disassembled Furniture
- No Household Hazardous Waste - including batteries, chemical sprayers, and paint. You can drop them off nextdoor.
- No Light Bulbs - unless new in the box
- No unsafe Lumber - any lumber with screws or nails.
- No Mattresses & Boxsprings - they are recycled at the landfill and are free to drop off.
- No Particleboard Furniture - unless in excellent condition
- No Propane Tanks - safety first!
- No Tires, Wheels, Rims - it is against the law for us to sell these items
- Used Safety Equipment – cribs, car seats, highchairs, other
Other Items may be turned away!! Receiving decisions are at LCM’s discretion, if items are ripped, broken, have odors, mold, or stains.

Your generosity also supports the LCM jobs training program and the amazing programs at VTC!
In 2024, LCM diverted over 1 million pounds of waste from the landfill. That's good news for the planet!
Why is Waste DIversion so important?
Landfill sites are partially responsible for global warming as they generate and release biogas into the atmosphere. Biogas is a mixture formed primarily of methane gas (CH₄) and carbon dioxide (CO₂), two of the gases that cause climate change and an increase in the planet's temperature. According to an ISWA report, if the current situation continues and we do not take action, landfill sites will account for 10% of greenhouse gas emissions by 2025.
