The Veterans Jobs Training Program at Last Chance Mercantile is designed to provide formerly homeless, previously incarcerated, and at-risk veterans with meaningful employment experience, practical job skills, and supportive supervision as they transition from incarceration or chronic homelessness back into the workforce. The program emphasizes personal growth, skill development, and workforce readiness. Permanent employment is possible after the candidate has completed the program.
· Maximum length: 6 months
· Standard probationary period: 90 days
· Must be a veteran enrolled in VTC Transitional Housing or Case Management programs
· Must be eligible for employment in the United States
· Gainful employment history
· Improved soft and hard job skills
· Resume and references
· Increased confidence and independence
· Being part of a team and working to further the goals of VTC by supporting its programs.
· In its first four years, the program has enrolled: 12 veterans.
· Permanent hires currently: 2 veterans
